PROPS (FILM+TV)

For over ten years, I’ve worked in the props department for film and television. Some days I work on set managing for the department, and some days I work on my computer designing props for in front of the camera — some days I do both.

Actors need to have objects to interact with on screen or else certain scenes would come across as boring or unrealistic. When those props are given the appropriate amount of forethought, they can add character depth, narrative context, or even clues that reveal hidden aspects of the plot.

Whether a prop is crucial to the story or just a pertinent element of a set, I’ve been responsible for creating it or making sure the actor has what they need.

Below you can see some of what I’ve created (book covers, album art, posters, a comical amount of receipts, etc) for film, television, and commercial projects.

One day on set I told Tyler Perry that he should watch Midsommar, because I know he likes ridiculous violence when its premised on interpersonal relationships (I wish he would just give in and make a straight up slasher). He comes back later and said “you didn’t tell me I was supposed to get high before I watched that.” Then he wrote Ruthless.
